Xanthi Gazetis, B.Sc., CAT(C), D.O.
Xanthi Gazetis Bio: Graduated in 2000 from Concordia University with Bachelor’s of Science degree in Exercise Science, Xanthi specializing in Athletic Therapy and became certified with the CATA in 2001. She then completed her thesis of ostheopathy on Plantar Fasciitis to then acquired her osteopathic degree in June of 2009. Between 1998 and 2008, she worked with various football teams, but now her focus is in the clinic. Xanthi has been working at Concordia Physio Sport in NDG since 2003 and has been managing the clinic since 2009.

Laura Leslie, CAT(C), D.O.
Laura Leslie Bio: Laura Leslie has been working as a Certified Athletic Therapist for over 17 years with Concordia Physio Sports and has been a Part-Time faculty member at Concordia University in the department of Exercise Science for the past 10 years. Laura currently teaches 7 different manual therapy courses accredited by the CATA and available to athletic therapist in the continuing education series of the CATA. Laura completed her Osteopathy research thesis on treatment approaches for concussions and post-concussion syndrome.

 

Lecture: Manual Techniques for the Lower Leg

 

The mechanics of the lower leg are essential to normal gait. Some of the most common injuries sports medicine occurs in this region. The goal of this lecture is to introduce you to some key manual techniques for the lower leg that combine soft tissue, myofascial and structural techniques that will change gait patterns immediately.

 

Scott Livingston, B.Sc., CAT(C), CSCS
Scott Livingston Bio: Scott Livingston has been working in the field of athletic performance for over twenty years. He is renown for his dedication to building a resilient and efficient athlete using his ability to assess movement dysfunction and deliver corrective exercise, while merging such strategies with effective and specific performance training. Scott has trained athletes at every level including professional athletes, Olympic athletes, and college athletes, as well as highly motivated recreational athletes. He currently owns and operates his own business in performance training and reconditioning with his wife Jaime. Scott worked for eleven seasons in the National Hockey league as an athletic therapist and strength and conditioning coach with the Montreal Canadiens, New York Rangers, and New York Islanders. He is a graduate of Concordia University’s Exercise Science Department (1987), he was certified as an AT in 1988 and certified as a strength and conditioning specialist in 1990. He worked for Concordia University for nine years as strength and conditioning coach and assistant athletic therapist (1989-98), as well as having served in a part time faculty position in the Exercise Science Department.

Derek Della Rocca, B.Sc., CAT(C)
Derek Della Rocca Bio: Derek has been an Athletic Therapist for over 10 years. His speciality is in combining therapy & training. His reputation around Montreal has grown over the last few years while working with the Montreal Allouettes Football team, where he holds to role of strength & conditioning coach. Additionally he's worked with some top level hockey players and the Montreal Impact soccer team. Derek is also a skilled athletic therapist, achieving high levels of success using a variety of methods to help rehabilitate injuries or improve physical performance. Derek owns & operates X-FIT St-Laurent, a training studio that incorporates athletic therapy.

Jean-David Gagné, B.Sc., CHEK I, CSCS, FQM
Jean-David Gagné Bio: Jean-David Gagne is a CHEK certified athletic therapist and massage therapist who works with athletes of all levels. Over the past years, Jean-David had the chance to be part of the medical team at different sporting events including the 2002 Women’s Tour de France and the 2005 Jeux de la Francophonie in Niger. Jean-David also owns JD Multi-Thérapie; a company who focuses on putting the athletic therapy philosophy into industries.

Vicky Collette, B.SC., CAT(C)
Vicky Collette Bio: Vicky Collette is a graduate from Concordia University and became a certified Athletic Therapist in 1998. She has worked with the Canadian Alpine Ski Team, Vanier College and Concordia Physio Sport. Now, she is in the business industry, where she had worked at Aptitude and Manulife Financial as a Rehabilitation Consultant and Disability Case Manager respectively. Currently she works as a Disability Management Specialist at Organizational Solutions Inc.

 

Lecture: Writing it down

 

‘Writing it down’ will provide you with basic knowledge to help you chart better and quicker. You will learn the basic rules, the different type of notes, note content as well as the symbols and abbreviations.
